We Knife Co. Remains Nivron the Ball

We Knife Co. Remains Nivron the Ball

What’s cleaner than clean? We Knife Co. is trying to answer that question with an incoming model called the Nivron, which brings a look that can only be described as…hyperclean.

A hyperclean design does not mean the Nivron isn’t ready to plunge into the grunge of day-to-day carry. In fact, it’s probably ready for more than the usual EDC cutting jobs. Its blade is an elegantly proportioned, but quite large, clip point blade – running all the way out to 3.8 inches, in fact. That puts it in the wheelhouse of some of those big honkin’ first-gen We Knife monsters, as well as in the path of life’s gnarlier chores.

The Nivron’s bolster is a raised flat, not a separate piece of titanium

The flipper tab on the Nivron’s blade isn’t an in-line, but it is very low profile; in the open position it very politely extends only enough to clear the bolster and form a low-key finger guard. Meanwhile the performance of the steel, while not surprising coming from We Knife Co., is not understated: M390 remains a strong contender in the powder metallurgy super steel category even if it is a few generations behind now.

The handle, a mild arch with some faceted chamfers to angular-ize the profile, looks comfortable and simple. The scales are made from titanium slabs, albeit with a raised, satin-finished flat that creates a faux bolster. The liner lock is nested in the frame so that nothing untoward breaks up the Nivron’s pared down look. We Knife Co. lists the weight at 4.36 oz.

The Nivron does not yet have a release date.
